UK Quarry Slurry Density Monitoring

A sourced library of quarry-by-quarry measurement reviews for wet processing, hydrocyclones, sand recovery and process-water circuits.

Each page uses public process evidence to frame possible SDM ECO measurement questions. The pages do not claim an existing commercial relationship or a completed instrument selection. Representative quarry images are used throughout.

Lomond Quarry in Fife, Scotland

Hillhouse Group | hard rock, sand and gravel

A candidate review could examine cyclone feed, sand-plant feed, thickener or recovered-water solids where a continuous density trend would support control.

Colemans Farm Quarry in Witham, Essex

Brice Aggregates | sand and gravel

Potential review points include pumped sand feed, cyclone feed, dirty-water return or another pressurised line where density relates to classification or water balance.

Fife Silica Sands at Burrowine Moor Quarry in Clackmannanshire, Scotland

Paterson Quarries | specialist silica sand

A review could consider stable pumped feeds around hydrocyclones or water-recovery circuits where solids loading is meaningful to performance.

New Barn Farm Quarry in Cholsey, Oxfordshire

Grundon Sand & Gravel | sand and gravel

Candidate points may include wash-plant slurry feed or a stable thickener-related line where density supports loading, flocculation review or water recovery.

Hermitage Quarry in Maidstone, Kent

Gallagher Aggregates | Kentish Ragstone aggregates

A review could screen cyclone feed, sand processing or dirty-water return lines for a fully flooded, representative density duty.

Arclid Quarry in Sandbach, Cheshire

Bathgate Silica Sand | silica sand slurry

The slurry transfer line may be a candidate if it remains full, has stable flow and offers a location where density represents the mixture entering processing.

Gregg’s Sand and Gravel Plant in Northern Ireland

Northstone Materials | washed sand and gravel

A stable pumped feed to the EvoWash or a related process-water line may warrant screening where solids loading influences performance.

Linhay Hill Quarry in Ashburton, Devon

Glendinning | Devonian limestone wash slurry

Hydrocyclone feed is a potential review point if the line is fully flooded and density can be interpreted alongside pressure and flow.

Pyford Brook Quarry in Alrewas, Staffordshire

Cemex | Trent Valley sand and gravel

Primary or secondary cyclone feed may be considered where density adds information about feed loading and remains representative across operating states.

Binnegar Quarry in Dorset

RBQPL / Raymond Brown | sand with lignite

A hydrocyclone feed or another stable pumped sand stream could be screened where solids loading relates to process stability.

What the quarry application library provides

The library helps quarry and wet-processing teams identify where continuous non-nuclear density data may support a real process decision. It is designed to start an engineering review, not replace a site survey or commissioning programme. For wet aggregate processing, read our aggregate wash plant slurry density guide.

What to send to PMA

To help PMA assess your application, send the current process flow diagram, the stream to be measured, pipe and fitting details, density and flow ranges, material variability, reference-sampling method and the operating decision the measurement needs to support.

Let’s talk about your application.

Speak to the PMA team about your instruments, reagents or service requirements. Tell us what you need, and we’ll help you find the right next step.

  • Advice for your application. Find the right instruments, sensors and chemical reagents for your process.
  • Practical service support. Discuss commissioning, calibration, maintenance or an instrument issue with our team.
  • Clear next steps. Ask a technical question or request a callback, with your site and measurements in mind.
  • An enquiry, not a mailing list. Your details are used to respond to you. You won’t be added to a marketing database.
